The QRI5 is
an informal assessment given to students to determine the level of a
student and to assess the different types of texts that a student can
read and the different ways a student can read and understand. The
assessment includes reading (orally or silently), retelling the story
and answering questions. The passages that are selected to be read
are specifically chosen for each student at their grade level. The
assessment will determine if the text is at the independent,
instructional, or frustration level in comprehension and word
recognition for the student.
